shucks!!! i blog once then i sian diao liao...wah kaoz.... really meng blog liddat... okok... suddenly inspired to blog again after reading some blogs... so i muz make use of now..if not sian diao again...

okok... after LAST week's sg idol...now i wanna tok about thur after noon and sat! why join together leh? cos it's NCGC!! ncgc leh... is national crystal growing challenge! haha...i seldom go for national competition one... this is one of the few times...

ncgc leh... gu4 ming2 si1 yi4, is a competition where chemistry is involved, where students have to grow crystals according to the criteria of the different categories and win lah... sounds simple... but not loh... still remember on wednesday, had to pia the poster for this competition... make until nicenice... simple redo the whoel thing lah... the one we did and samuel's house came to nought... sigh... then still muz have log book lah... the main things: poster, logbook, crystal (duh).

for junior cat, for sec students one, is to grow copper acetate monohydrate (blue crystal) as nice as possible and weight plays a major role too. senior cat is jc and poly, to grow sodium nitrate and make is as nice as possible. for open cat is sec,jc,poly all can join... to grow the longest crystal of ur choice.

so i was in open cat with samuel ravi, then yicheng and yuh-yang also, in anotehr team lah (pairs mah). zhi yong and hong yi 1 team, leon and yee boon 1 team... they in junior cat... sam and i grew kdp (potassium dihydrogen phosphate) + potassium chromate (KDP is colourless, add potassium chromate become yellow). then yicheng's grp grew potassium ferricyanide (some dark red/brown crystal).

that day on thur... ponned physics (afternoon lessons), then went to nus multi sports hall for displaying. fri then the judges com and judge, we cannot go one... lastly, sat is results la... thats why fri nothing to tok abt. anyway... that sat thur all 8 of us plus mrs sow (our chem teacher) and the lab technicians mdm xia and lim went there loh... we register, found our booths and then paste our poster. chanel handbags there was a table for display... wah.. then i saw other teams you3 bei4 er2 lai2, all the tablecloth, ornaments, structures... all to beautify the booth and their crystal.. then i looked at our table... some seed crystals, the plain KDP, main crystal going to be put later after weighing... zibei loh... BUT THANKFULLY!

mrs sow seem to think of everything... she suddenly took out a packet of dried red flower and leaves, also a bottle of the original seed crystals to yicheng's grp (their crystal is dark red/briwn remember?)... and gave us lemons!!!! why i so happy leh... cos our crystal, u see ah, is originally transparent (wrong chem term, but heck care), then add potassium chromate become yellow mahz, so we call it lemon KDP... make sense?

so i was damn glad... fit our theme so well! hehe... then try to palce them nicely... koup some ligher colour leaves from yicheng's flower packet and use them loh... i think is angsana leaves lol... then samuel had a white flower he pasted on a card for teacher's day... :P... so we used it and placed it next to our KDP crystal... haha :D... so we have a colour theme liao... of yellow and white, goes well together right? then yicheng's one is theme of red and brown... also nice hor? wah... can be art students liao :D... so creative and have good sense of colour combi... haha.

after that leh... looked around... saw the competition is quite ok... not sure win (obvious)... but stand a chance to win merit or 3rd... yicheng's crystal was 17cm and ours was 14cm!!! quite long le... compared to others... then had a fierce competitor... 14.5 cm... potassium ferricyanide also... lastly, juz b4 we left... we placed our main crystal in a very nice position... yicheng put his in a "flower bed" :D:D:D

hours (ok, lemme use days better) went by............................................................

it was sat liaoz... woke up quite early... rather sad that i was going to miss dazu (hey...jkjk...im not so committed lah... very slack onez). anyway... left early and went to kap... supposedly to wait for sam to pick me up in his dad's van... then reach chao early... so went into kap and eat breakfast loh (shucks... shudda cum later... grow fatter liaoz)... then he called me say he was reaching while i was half way thru my kopi... the bo bian... quickly gulped down the coffee (wah...burning sia)... and chiong out of kap to the bus stop... juz in time... his dad pulled over, i climbed aboard... and we were ready to hear the results... we went there with a normal mood lah... cos we never thought of winning mahz... when reach there... saw mrs sow reach liao... yicheng and yuhyang cannot go, they got camp... then hongyi and yee boon got math retest (i took in on fri b4 army open house... tok about that later...)... so only me sam zhiyong leon mus sow loh... 9am le...the thing start... alot of speeches...rather interesting (at least i didnt doze off)... then it was the results... junior cat... zhi yong and hongyi got 2nd runner up... not bad liaoz...

senior cat champs... hcjc!!!! quite happy for them. then it was the moment... it had arrived... when we saw our fierce competitor from bukit panjang, then 14.5 cm one get merit... i knew... die liao... then 3rd... 2nd was yicheng's grp... i gave a sigh when sam went up to help them collect the award... the longest crystal get 2nd le... no hope liao...

then when she (the emcee) said, "the champions for ncgc for open cat this year.... also from the Chinese High School... Lemon KDP by Samuel Ravi Choudhury and Ong Jia Hao! Congratulations!" WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~ i was shocked like siao... stunned.............. surprised....................... unexpected........................ KAOZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! hahaha... then mrs sow was like, "jia hao, jia hao! go up la!" then i brought myelf with my thumping heart onto the stage loh... so happy sia!! :D:D:D:D

then rest of day ji happy... had the reception but ate little, cos had to stay at booth and answer questions... obvious mah... muz tou1 shi1 a bit... champs leh!! :D:D:D still got lotsa phototaking and stuff... interested ppl can go: http://www.chemistry.nus.edu.sg/ncgc/

after that... the event over liao le... mrs sow is really happy... take away 3 awards... send 4 grps get 3... obvious happy sia... =) so ah... mr lim teck huat also came... then went back to chs for trial run mah... skip dazu cannot skip trial run... sad... haha...kiddingkidding. took taxi with them (mr lim and mrs sow)... then rushed to the place above canteen there... paiseh... so long in chs still dunno the name sia... wadeva... got a lot of paintings there... the path to boarding school... should know where le la... haha...

yup... next post: army open house... then nextnext talk about the trial run...
